The April issue of Dragon is traditionally and issue with some fun stuff in it as a celebration of April Fool’s, this issue is no exception and we get some funny stuff in it, mostly benefit of the great Phil Foglio and his illustrations, but also in some articles although they repeat some previous jokes, from long past issues, like the Donald Duck AD&D stats and so forth.

On a more serious level we have the continuation of the series about the D&D races with Elves being covered in this issue together with Elven gods and Half-Elves. Again, although interesting this is mostly drawing from established Tolkien lore rather than AD&D setting specific lore. However Corellon Larethian is very much the Greyhawk god of Elves and would eventually be the god of Elves across the different planes in AD&D, including Forgotten Realms and so on.

Ed Greenwood brings us an article on guns in AD&D which is pretty useful, and we get a new NPC class in the Jester, which could pretty much just be a Bard subclass, and most of its abilities are actually now variants of Bard abilities. We get yet another article on Alignments, which seems to have really been a headbreaking puzzle in early AD&D discourse and probably the coolest single page of What’s New with Phil and Dixie guest starring Cthulhu!
