The first thing you might ask yourself about this module is: Where are WG 1-3? Nowhere, that’s where. However, right from the cover you get the information that this is supposed to interface with S4: Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth… so that must be WG3. Where are 1 and 2? Well, going by level requirements and logic, the first would be T1: The Village of Hommlet with the logic second being The Temple of Elemental Evil as a direct sequel to Hommlet. Thing is, Elemental Evil, long promised, would only come out in 1985… so no luck there.

We start off the adventure in the Gnome Vale after the events in Tsojcanth, with the Gnomes informing the PCs of a Norker incursion into their territory. Norkers and a bunch of other monsters here like the Grell on the back covers are new entries in D&D lore coming from the recently published Fiend Folio which Gygax makes an effort to integrate with this adventure.

As the characters investigate the Norkers they will eventually be led into a lost temple of the Lovecraftian Tharizdun and the adventure gets weirder and weirder as characters explore. Not the easiest module to read or run with long descriptions of each room in verbose Gygaxian prose and little in the way of illustrations of what is going on, it does have potential for a dedicated DM to create an increasingly horrific experience for PCs as they go further and further down the temple.
