As is the case with most of the Oriental Adventure modules, Blood of the Yakuza is partly an adventure module but also a campaign setting. This time the setting is Nakamaru, inspired by Tokugawa Japan and the plot revolves around the mafia (Yakuza) and the ruling families of the city of Nakamaru.

Meant to be played in sequence after OA1-3, this is a pretty cool module, I particularly like these kinds of modules which have an extended setting section, which has become, in more recent years, the standard for modules. It not only gives players an adventure to play through but it also expands the universe in which those adventures are to be played.

I’ve never really gotten into the Kara-Tur/Oriental Adventures stuff, being always more attracted to the Western Fantasy side of D&D, but there is clearly a lot of effort put into this and it does seem like a rewarding setting and set of adventures to explore. I definitely recommend having a read through these modules.
