We are approaching the end of the original Endless Quest series with this number 35, and the next volume in this series will be the last one for a while, until the mid-90s when the series returns. What we will see for the rest of the 80s and into the 90s is a bigger focus on novels rather than gamebooks as a result of the success of the Dragonlance Chronicles and later on the Drizzt stories as we come closer to the end of the decade.

Meanwhile we still get some of these quirky gamebooks and in this one we get a Vampire story with a main character named Cullen… hmmm… where have I heard that before? However, unlike a certain shiny vampire series which would come out some decades after this, Cullen is not the vampire here, but the one that the player incarnates as they fight the vampire, Ludlow.

Not the most fascinating of books and with a pretty unimpressive cover by Ben Otero, with a Bela Lugosi style vampire where we should have a more medieval fantasy feel to the book which includes elves and griffons, but it is one of the few horror Endless Quests and for that it deserves highlighting.
