The final installment in the Kingdom of Sorcery trilogy, this book has the hard task of giving the reader/player a satisfying finale worthy of the series as a whole. Well, this isn’t a particularly easy thing and its made harder by the very concept of the books, as when you buy this volume the book has no idea of what choices you made in previous books (it’s not like you can export savegames).

So, what this means is that whenever you start a new instalment none of your previous decisions will actually make any difference on the ongoing story. Oh well. It is only natural that the ending is somewhat disappointing, then.

Still there are good things here, the three volume nature of the tale means that characters are more meaningful at this stage of the game and also both the Keith Parkinson cover and the George Barr interior illustrations (more of which coming in post 502.1) are pretty nifty.
