Letting us know what happened to Gilthanas and Silvara when they went their own way during the Dragonlance Chronicles, this fills a small gap in the history of Krynn in the shape of a gamebook. This is of special interest for Dragonlance fans, but unfortunately it is also just an OK gamebook.

This does have a great Larry Elmore cover, featuring Gilthanas, Silvara and Fizban, but unfortunately of these three you get to play the most boring of them all, the slightly racist dull elf Gilthanas, a man who has lived his life being a pale shadow of the much more interesting women around him, such as the good Dragonarmies general Laurana or his love interest, the silver dragon in disguise Silvara.

Fortunately we also get Fizban here, and this guy is always good for a laugh as well as for his god-like (or godly) powers, which is a saving grace for the story, but otherwise it’s just ok. If you are really into Dragonlance and need to know what could have happened when Gilthanas goes to Sanction, this is the book for you.
