With a much racier than usual cover by Jeff Easley, and a confirmation that TSR was moving away from the family friendly ideals of Gygax, who was by now out of the company, Day of Al’Akbar is, as you can imagine, not exactly the most political correct module. From the semi-naked harem blondes on the cover, to the faux Arabic setting there is plenty to cringe at here.

Nonetheless, this is also an adventure that gives the DM a pretty detailed setting in the shape of the city of Khaibar, with an A1 map of the city included, contemporary reviews focused on how this was a great detailed setting, rather than a great adventure, which most people seemed to think it wasn’t.

In terms of story you have to retrieve a Talisman and in order to do that you have certain options which can involve wilderness or dungeon adventures on your way to the final confrontation. None of that is particularly exciting, but I’m sure Easley’s cover shifted a bunch of copies anyway.
