Welcome to February 1986! A month packed full of content for D&D we will have a total of five adventure modules spanning far and wide in the universes of D&D with modules set in Mystara, Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Lankhmar and the new Oriental Adventures setting. There are also three books this month coming out, one gamebook in the Endless Quest series and two novels, Gary Gygax’s Artifact of Evil (which I’ve just finished reading) continuing the Gord the Rogue saga set in Greyhawk, and the first of a new trilogy by Weis and Hickman, The Time of the Twins (which I’ve just started reading), set in Dragonlance.

Dragon magazine itself gives us a classic and iconic cover by the late and lamented Keith Parkinson as well as quite a bit of content. Ed “Forgotten Realms” Greenwood gives us more in depth lore, looking at the ecology of the maedar (medusa and her mate) as well as an article on enchanted doors, because what every adventuring party needs is more trouble opening doors.

Other articles cover the Ranger class (two articles on the Ranger!), the importance of money in the game, using magic users to raise some cash and some thoughts on Dungeon Mastering. There’s also a pretty good article on how magic works in D&D which would shift through the years but is still pretty interesting to read.
