The second gamebook of the series sees the reader taking the place of Presto the magician with the unpredictable green hat. Much as in the first book of the series the main character sees himself separated from the rest of the party, but this time he has company… in the form of insufferable Eric, the Cavalier.

The two of them get transported to a place where Presto’s magic works backwards, which is pretty meaningless for a magical hat that is unpredictable to start with, which is a bit of a failure in terms of story. Otherwise this is a fun little book and you get to collect some allies such as a Kirin and Opie the flying camel!

As usual this gamebook is aimed at a really young audience which makes it pretty straightforward and short, which unfortunately makes it have little replayability. The straightforwardness also makes it particularly easy to cheat as the book just moves forward without much leafing back and forth in the style of more complex gamebooks. Still, fun stuff.
