Merry Christmas everyone, and with this issue of Dragon we move into November 1984, an important month for the history of D&D, because it marks the start of the novel publishing arm of TSR and D&D which would last all the way to our days.

Later in the month Dragons of Autumn Twilight would come out and inaugurate this new stage. This issue does not ignore that and there is a whole article previewing the upcoming book. It explains how the novels integrate and expand the world that is present in the modules but don’t actually ruin the play experience.

This issue is also a big one for Ed Greenwood content, there’s a bunch of articles by the creator of Forgotten Realms, one about the ecology of the Leucrota and another long one expanding the Nine Hells, building on his previous work back in issues #75 and #76. Loads of great content!
