Designed by the great Bruce Nesmith, who would go on to great success at Bethesda being a designer for such little games as Fallout 3 and 4 as well as Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and being a lead designer for a little game I like to call Skyrim, you may have heard of it, this is a module that brings new and different things to the game, but it also has its shortcomings.

The shortcomings are probably connected to this being a bit of a rush job, Nesmith didn’t have long to flesh out a pre-existing idea and this just had to come out the way it is. The story revolves around the characters being in a coastal town and being hired to rescue a kidnapped princess and finding out why there are so many pirates attacking lately. For this the party is given a boat and promised an island as a reward.

Eventually the boat gets attacked by the titular war rafts and the party gets saved by the Storm Giant that’s on the cover. Thanks storm giant! However the whole adventure relies a lot on the DM guiding the players to their next destination as often the way to proceed forward is far from obvious if you are only following what’s on the page, a lot of the connective tissue is up to the DM, which is ok, but it would be better to have some guidance at least.
