With a cover by Keith Parkinson and interior art by Jeff Easley, surely more should have been expected from this module, particularly at such a high point in the history of TSR as is 1984. However, the Forest Oracle is renowned as a pretty terrible module.

The reasons for why it’s bad are easy to spot, sketchy stat blocks for monsters with missing information, bad boxed narration with nearly nonsensical descriptions and a story that is really little more than disconnected encounters while at the same time being very railroady.

The general plot has the party trying to find the Druids in the forest, who have retired from the increasingly civilized world. However, nature is acting up and therefore the players are needed to find the Druids and bring them back to get nature working properly again. As a general concept this isn’t bad, however the execution here leaves much to be desired.
