With a cover by James Holloway, issue 88 of Dragon has a couple of interesting and unique articles in it, some about D&D and others not so much. It’s worth noting in passing the Tom Wham game Elephant Hunt, a typically humorous game that takes up the centre pages of the magazine and which is also, unfortunately the last game that Wham contributes to the magazine, which will focus increasingly on the well established properties of TSR like D&D.

In the realm of D&D we have some continuation from the previous issues, such as the second part of the article about taking adventures outside the dungeon and making the wilderness a more exciting place in which to play, as well as the continuation of the Len Lakofka articles on the Gods of the Suel, from the Greyhawk campaign setting, covering Syrul, Fortubo and Wee Jas.

Other articles cover the physics of fall damage with a couple of articles with competing opinions on the subject complete with mathematical calculations and everything for those DMs into the nitty gritty of the thing, and lastly Ed Greenwood brings us the ecology of that unique D&D monster, the Rust Monster, explaining how the whole thing works and how they live their lives. Another fun issue.
