This month the official TSR UK publication feels a lot like an official Chaosium publication. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, mind, but it kind of makes most of the magazine fall outside the remit of this page.

So, this issue is very focused on horror with articles on the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG and Lovecraft as well as Lovecraftian fiction by horror luminary Brian Lumley. This is all pretty good stuff, and the magazine is getting better by leaps and bounds. However, it’s just not very D&D.

Not all is lost, and we do have our regular D&D columns as well as a mini-module for the game, and a reprint of an article by Len Lakofka and Gary Gygax all the way back in Dragon #80 about combat charts, saving throw matrixes and XP values. Riveting stuff! As always we have a robust review section and a magazine which is improving steadily with much better interior art, for example, than was usual until a couple of issues ago.
