Another Endless Quest that I could only read in the Spanish translation, it’s an interesting one in the sense that it incorporates new game elements into the Endless Quest series. Usually the books are all about individual decisions, but this one includes an element of party management that does add something to the story.

You are a young cleric, Loendal, who gets entrusted with the mission to retrieve the ransom for the dragon that protects your land. Once in a while, the Gold Dragon that lives near your land of Oon comes out and demands a bag of gold to keep threats away from the land. The inhabitants of Oon are happy to pay, but someone needs to get that loot. That’s where we come in.

We are meant to get a hobgoblin treasure in a far away land, but we’ll take a party with us, with a spell caster, a warrior and a rogue among them. As you play the game you have to know which of the party members should be used to solve each problem that is thrown at you. Do you use the wizard to solve it with magic, or use the warrior and brawn? That’s a new mechanic which is kind of fun, even if storywise there isn’t much new here, and the way in which it loses focus on the main character by spreading it out among the party, is a bit of an impediment to making it a deep character story.
