Do you hate your friends? Do you want their 1-3 level party to face a Red Dragon in their first few sessions of a campaign and just die? Then this is the module for you. A pretty uninspired module that feels a bit like B2: Keep on the Borderlands but with the Keep itself not being fleshed out enough and with little of what made that module iconic.

This feels like a very late addition to the old-school modules that were by this point petering out at TSR for more plot-heavy adventures, and in that way this is quite laudable, that they were at least trying to keep some diversity in modules going. Unfortunately this one just isn’t that great, in spite of some fun NPCs, like the two kind of suspicious old ladies who live in a cottage and a fun dungeon adventure against Hobgoblins, the whole thing feels a bit aimless. You are meant to clean up the area and the town will reward you for doing that, but it feels purposeless for the most part, just exploring a map and grinding monsters. Unfortunately sometimes these monsters take the shape of a Red Dragon and you are dead.

Still worth leafing through the adventure for some cool Jim Holloway art, otherwise there are better Basic D&D adventures for levels 1-3 and this is of interest mainly to the completionist, which means yours truly.
