Another episode of the D&D animated series and another introduction to a classic character, this time the Paladin Strongheart shows up as the characters get captured by Venger and manage to release him from this really cool prison on top of a lake of lava.

The titular servant of evil is what looks like a kind of Hill Giant, Karrox, a good guy at heart but one who lives under the power of Venger that threatens to destroy his homeland if he is not obeyed. Karrox is a pretty tragic character, who really does not want to be evil, but has little choice in the matter, up until the end of the episode.

There are also a number of cool creatures introduced here, from the Lizardmen to the golden Lava Dragon which the characters fight with the help of Strongheart. If you look closely you can also see a bunch of unnamed, mystery creatures walking about in a clear burst of creativity from the Japanese animators of Toei studios, with a lot of monsters reminiscent of classical Japanese mythological creatures. Great stuff!
