An important episode in the series, this one introduces one of the most iconic villains in the series and D&D in general, Warduke, with his cool helmet and shield with a skull on it, he became an instant classic. Worth noting that a very similar character in terms of look had actually shown up on the cover of the 1978 issue 17 of Dragon magazine.

In terms of story it’s a simple retrieval tale, as a Warduke, working for Venger, kidnaps the Dungeon Master and the players need to get him back. There are some interesting moments here and one of them, where Eric the cavalier walks through a wasteland only to find a zombie is a particularly creepy one, love it. I’ve added a clip of that scene above.

The series keeps on being a fun ride, with plenty of monsters being introduced to viewers, like bullywugs and manticores, and with a mix of childish and pretty creepy elements but always with a pretty high animation standard and fun stories that still make it perfectly watchable today.
