In the second episode of the animated series we continue the story of the adventure party of kids trying to find their way home and getting a hint that the Beholder is guarding a portal that could take them back to their (our) world. 

On the way to the Beholder they meet Sir John, a cowardly knight who is a pretty interesting character. Cowardly but devoted to his son, he has to eventually do the bravest thing, which is to act correctly even if he is deathly afraid.

Another good episode, with the introduction of a Beholder, Sir John and some weirdo snail people in the dark forest, who are properly creepy.
