We reach September ’83, a big month for D&D and tomorrow you’ll see why as we dip into a whole new kind of media. Meanwhile, trusty old Dragon keeps coming out every month, now almost exclusively dedicated to D&D and AD&D. This month the cover depicts a Wall of Fire as imagined by Jerry Eaton, not one of the best covers for the magazine, looking a bit murky.

Inside we have an extremely long article on how to use the Tarot deck in D&D, with rules for every one of the 78 cards, both major and minor arcana. As you can imagine this takes up a lot of space making it a kind of ultra complex “deck of many things” kind of item. The “Ecology of” article covers Unicorns this month.

Greenwood brings us a short article on Curses with 20 ideas for curses that you can use in your game, and we also get articles with new items, an approach to Elemental Gods, and lastly Frank Mentzer’s article explaining the new Basic and Expert sets for D&D. The usual comic strips (What’s New with Phil and Dixie, Snarf Quest and Wormy) close up the issue.
