The third module in the Desert of Desolation which started out with I3: Pharaoh and then I4: Oasis of the White Palm, this is also the conclusion of that plot line where basically player have to keep cleaning up the mess that they have created in the previous module. So in I3 they release an Efreet that creates chaos in the region, so in I4 they go off to get a Djinn release to fight the Efreet… well what happens is that their never ending battle just aggravates the widespread destruction.

Now the players need to fix the new problem they created and for that they need to find Martek’s tomb that has some kind of artifact that will help make things right. In fact it’s not an artifact, it’s Martek himself that needs to be brought to life to make it stop.

Although there are some really interesting things to see inside in the tomb of Martek, including places where time has stopped, a strange garden where competing tribes live, and another desert in a pocket dimension, the most interesting thing about the module is right at the start of it. An immense expanse of mirrored glass where the sky and the ground become one, the Skysea, that players must traverse on a skate boat as the glass is scalding hot because of the reflection of the sunlight. That’s a great concept that is an all time classic. Unfortunately by the end the module is really anticlimactic as Martek is the one that fixes everything off screen with the players being robbed of a showdown with the Efreet.
