The first in the EX module series, EX standing for EXpansion, this was originally a little sidequest inside the sprawling, mythical, castle Greyhawk dungeon. That was the original Gygax dungeon where everything started for D&D, around which the city of Greyhawk grew and eventually the whole world of Oerth grew to surround it. Although we never got the original Greyhawk Castle dungeon, we did get bits and pieces and attempts to resurrect it. This is one of the bits and pieces that came out.

Basically a side-quest based on Alice in Wonderland, the player go through a portal into what should soon become apparent is Wonderland. However, it’s not exactly what readers of the Lewis Carroll story would imagine Wonderland is like, firstly all the mechanics are now AD&D compatible, including monsters who are adaptations (the Hookah Smoking Caterpillar is a Behir, for example), and also it works more like Fairyland, or what would be the Feywild, than Wonderland. As you should know about faery lands you cannot trust anyone and you should eat nothing. In fact this adventure seems to reward being a murder-hobo more than most modules. Everything is out to get you, every food is out to poison you, if the NPCs seem nice it’s only because they want to trap you some way, this is a Gygax meat grinder. Remember kids: just kill them before they open their mouth. Kill them all. They will know you by the trail of the dead.
