A Basic D&D module by Tom Moldvay, it’s a pretty fun and rich module. Although it is designed primarily for characters of 1-3 level, so for people using the D&D Basic Set it does allow a dedicated DM to make the adventure much longer, potentially into a full campaign by adding something pretty new at the end of the module: suggestions, lore and plotlines to take the adventure further as well as descriptions of a city and further levels to the central dungeon of the module.

The central “dungeon” is really a step-pyramid in a desert of the known world (Mystara) and it clearly draws its inspiration from Hellenistic Egypt, it being the tomb of a king Alexander and queen Zenobia. Adventurers climb to the top of the pyramid and from there enter the structure starting with the top smaller level and going down to larger and larger levels.

Interestingly the pyramid is inhabited by the Cynidiceans, a kind of altered humans who have been living in the darkness for a long time and are divided into four different factions, three of which are lawful or neutral and which PCs can use as allies or become members of, and a fourth which is pretty diabolical and will be the big bad of the whole campaign if the DM decides to go further than 3rd level with it. We get a lot of detail about the Cynidicean civilization, society and history making for a pretty rich adventure. Cool module.
