Another good issue of Dragon, this time with a full bonus adventure module, The Halls of Beoll-Dur as a detachable part of the magazine, it also has some interesting articles on DnD and AD&D. First off we get an article by Rev. Arthur W. Collins on what it’s like to be a real-life Cleric with a passion for D&D. This is interesting as it is coming out at the same time as there is all this Satanic Panic stuff brewing in relation to AD&D, so it kind of gives a counter-perspective to the very conservative evangelical propelled anti-D&D sentiment in the States.

Interestingly we have not one but two articles on Dragon’s Blood, as in the kind of Blood that showered Sigfried in the old norse and germanic tales to give him invincibility and how to use that myth in the context of D&D.

We also get the usual columns like Bazaar of the Bizarre and the Dragon Bestiary, this time with the truly unnerving Ed Greenwood creation of the Tomb Tapper which even if it’s not an evil being just sends shivers down my spine. Other cool articles include one on computer programs to help DMs create settings with actual code printed on the magazine… different times. To round it off there’s a subscription advert for Dragon here that really wouldn’t fly today…
