Another doozy of a magazine, with a cover which announces the new Comic Strip Jasmine, this one is packed full of interesting stuff for D&D and AD&D players. Starting out with an article by Ed “Forgotten Realms” Greenwood about interplanar travel. Greenwood had appeared in the pages of Dragon before, but only as a creator of a creature for the Bestiary, this is his first long article as far as I can tell.

Another article introduces the idea, which would become part of wider lore, of neutral dragons, neither chromatic or metallic but a third, secret thing: Gem Dragons! We also get articles on Urban settings, both on how to determine encounters and also on how to build a good city.

Gygax appears with an entry to his From the Sorcerer’s Scroll on the world of Greyhawk! The long awaited campaign setting book is nearly out and so he goes over what is known and unknown about the world. This is really what I’m here for, I love D&D lore and we are finally getting to the point where there starts to be an effort to establish a somewhat fixed universe. Although we still would have to wait a couple of months for the Greyhawk setting, it’s just around the bend. Plenty of other odds and ends in the magazine on DnD related subjects, with a good article on how to research new spells and how to determine what books are found in a library. This issue also has a DM listing, and a full Dungeon Module, entitled The Pit of the Oracle. Great Issue.
