We finally get to the last Dragon Magazine of the 70s with issue #32, a brand new decade on the horizon where the growth of AD&D will be exponential, which also means that every year will take longer and longer for me to cover. Just to give you an idea there are 21 items in my 1979 list of things to cover, by 1989 that list had 92 items as of now (and I still have to add some things there). There’s still one more item to cover in the 70s on my next post but then the first decade of D&D is done.

This issue of Dragon is remarkable for several reasons, one of them is immediately apparent from the cover, being the first cover by legendary artist Phil Foglio, who will soon have a monthly comic in the magazine: What’s New With Phil & Dixie. My first encounter with Phil as a young man was playing Magic The Gathering in the mid 90s for which he also made some legendary card art.

In terms of content this has the usual mix of features and articles, with a good article on planes of existence by Gygax, some really fun Sage Advice by Jean Wells and a large historical article on Druids. However, the real highlight here is the attached adventure module, The Fell Pass, the first such module bundled with the Magazine, the first of many, at least until Dungeon magazine comes out and takes over that portion of the content. A fun little adventure through a canyon full of grottos and threats, worth taking a look at.
