This month Dragon is heavy on non-D&D articles, but it does start off with an extended report of the Origins ’78 convention, with some of the good and bad things that happened at that con. According to Tim Kask it seems like a lot of important people in the gaming world got very drunk and behaved very badly. Hah.

There’s an article on determining Insanity and insane behavior in D&D, some new spell variants, one of which sounds a lot like Conjure Woodland Beings but it here has the unfortunate name of “Nature’s Call” which sounds like a spell to fix constipation. Speaking of magic, there’s an article on the logic behind Magic in D&D, going all the way back to James Frazer’s The Golden Bough and descriptions of historical systems of magic.

There’s an article on a “trap game” or Godgame, one on different poisons and one on Monk weapons, the last article on D&D here talks briefly of NPC stats. Nothing world shattering, but still fun.
