Issue 10 shows a marked move towards a focus on D&D, we’ll see if the magazine continues this tendency, but it is something that over time Dragon would become more focused on, and that’s what really interests me in the magazine, so I suppose it’s a good thing.

A good move that they make in this issue, and explain in the editorial, is to start clearly labeling what is a game variant or a design idea, what is official and what is not, because it’s easy to see how the proliferation of new rules and ideas in previous magazines might have been very confusing to players, ao a bit of hand-holding is a good thing.

One of the rules variants we get here is an article suggestively titled “D&D Option: Orgies Inc.” which basically gives rules for money pits when players are too flush with cash, including paying for orgies, gambling, philanthropic donations and so on. Also included in the issue are tables and rules for wilderness encounters and a random monster generator, as in characteristics for creating a unique monster through dice rolls, a guide on how to design a dungeon with some logic to it, another article on gender differences in D&D, fortunately less misogynistic than the last time they tried that in this magazine and an overly complex system of murderous rituals for level advancement, which I am not sue if it is a parody or not. Not the best issue, but plenty of juice for D&D fans here. This issue also includes a whole satirical board game by Tom Wham called Snit Smashing.
